A Dilemma of Necro/Mesmer Proportions.
WARNING, NOOBIE QUESTIONS INCOMING.
.
,
Ok here is the deal.
My first character(I've been playing about 4 days now) is Necromancer/Mesmer, level 11. I am at(off the top of my head, these aren't EXACT numbers) 7 Death, 3 Blood, 5 Domination
I REALLY like the Domination Line. and I REALLY like Putrid Explosion and Animate Bone Horror. Backfire is my favorite spell out of any I've used so far.
but like I said, the only Mesmer line I really like so far is Domination. 2 things.
1) I can't decide which Necromancer Lines I really want to pursue. Death Magic is one, because I like the Corpse Manipulation Spells. but my secondary Necro line I can't decide between Curses and Blood Magic.
2) The grass is really starting to look greener over on the Mesmer Primary side...Fast Casting is very interesting, especially if it works with my Necro skills.
my dilemma is this...I'm not sure if it will be worth it to make a new character that is Mesmer Primary, Necromancer Secondary. if I do this, I'd only be investing in Fast Casting and Domination from Mesmer. and the rest of my focus would be on Necro skills. basically I'd be a Mesmer in name and armor, but a Necromancer in Spirit. would I weaken myself by doing this? is this type of character worth a shot in the long run? or should I just stick with what I have?
and just out of vain curiosity...do the Male Mesmer armors look as silly as I imagine they do?

I think most male mesmers look a little on the fruity side. However, there are a few face/hair styles that aren't so bad, and a some of the 15k armors I've seen are pretty nice looking compared to their cheaper counterparts.
Personally, I wouldn't be a mesmer primary and only use 1 or 2 skills from that profession. You lose out on the ability to use runes for the majority of the skills on your bar. When you eventually ascend and unlock additional secondaries for that character, you'll be restricted to switching between Me/N, Me/R, Me/Mo, etc. rather than exploring N/Me, N/R, N/Mo, etc. If you really like the necro skills, I strongly suggest staying necro primary. You can always run a PvP chr that's Me/N that has access to all the skills you've unlocked so far.
Also, soul reaping works best with a death magic necro, since you get free energy any time your minions die.
